Why is it necessary that YOU follow Jesus Christ?

Paul and Silas were cast into the inner prison and their legs were fastened in irons, all because they cast a demon out of a girl who was tormenting them. Sometimes it seems as if my mind is an "inner prison". My thoughts get trapped on one obsessive thing and I can't redirect them. It is dark, cramped and windowless inside my inner prison. My usual solution is to work hard physically, but these trapped thoughts also seem to shackle my feet so that I am unable to move very far. Trudging about in circles, I forget things and my work is unproductive. The end result of one of these inner prison incidents is that I end up wrestling the problem out with the Lord. Whether I start with Him or finally turn toward Him with a desperate plea for help, He never fails to bring me to a solution of some type. Then comes joy. Then the shackles fall off my feet. Finally I can move forward again. The inner prison becomes clean and bright and much less cramped. Glory hallelujah!
